THE OPPORTUNITY Much of what is happening at ZCS is positive and impactful. The school is spiritually strong and well known for its loving, Christ-centered environment. The faculty and parents are devoted to the mission and actively contribute their time and energy to the school. Located in an area of good public schools and other Christian education alternatives, ZCS has continued to prosper as a result of sound academic programs, a full educational experience for its students and its commitment to the Reformed Biblical worldview. Underthe leadership of its current Administrator, ZCS’ leadership has developed a high level of trust and confidence with the ZCS family. He is an effective promoter of the school’s educational philosophy and theology and has demonstrated the ability to effectively lead ZCS in a positive, forward thinking manner. He is an inspiring leader to the school, its faculty and staff, students and families. After successfully serving ZCS since it opened its doors in 1999, the current High School Principal will be retiring at the end of the 2020 Spring term. As a result, the Board of Directors is currently seeking candidates to consider as the Secondary School Principal for Zion Christian Schools.

The incoming Secondary School Principal will be a servant-leader, strong communicator and a committed follower of Jesus Christ, modeling a vibrant, authentic and personal faith. He/She will have proven success in leading academic and curriculum services that support ZCS’ missional alignment. The new Principal will work closely with faculty and staff, empowering them to participate in a successful creation and implementation of the vision for the Secondary School.  Additionally, he/she will ensure that ZCS is structured appropriately with a talented team in place, following best practices in all areas to include classroom leadership, curriculum development, and building strong, respectful relationships with all members of the school community including students, parents, faculty, staff administration, board members, supporting churches and the community at large. The new Secondary School Principal will be personable and engaging, welcoming, and seeking out students, families and other members of the ZCS family. He/She will be attuned to the Secondary Schools’students and be adept at developing relationships with them that enable them to maintain an excitement for learning as well as gaining their confidence and trust. He/She will be well known for his passion for students and they will be comfortable approaching him for guidance and support. The successful candidate will be an emerging/experienced leader and educator who has been effective in leadership roles in Christian schools to achieve new levels of growth and sustainable impact. He/She will be collaborative and possesses unquestionable integrity with a commitment to the mission of the ZCS. Further, he/she will meet the following qualifications: Possess a deep, personal faith in Jesus Christ that is apparent in both words and deed; Agree with and be an advocate for ZCS’s Distinctives with a commitment to Christian education from a historic Reformed perspective; Possess a Bachelors’ Degree in an appropriate discipline with a Masters’ Degree in Education preferred but not required; Successful track record of leading and guiding a Christian educational organization to higher levels of spiritual and academic excellence; Successful track record of developing and managing faculty and staff to higher levels of performance and effectiveness; and Be personally aligned with the theology, teaching, and mission of ZCS. In short, the new Secondary School Principal will be a talented educational leader whose approach is strategic, collaborative, and characterized by the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower others to achieve the goals and objectives of Zion Christian School. While providing clear direction for ZCS’s Secondary School, this individual will possess highly developed communications skills, be creative, curious, and possess a high emotional intelligence enabling her/him to direct the School in a manner that identifies and activates opportunities available. The new Secondary School Principal will be a “doer” with the ability to drive change in a positive, productive manner and to focus limited resources in areas that best enable efficient achievement of the mission.
