Since 1980, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has been the leading voice in addressing the prevention of highway deaths by drunk drivers. Over the past almost 50 years they have been successful in significantly reducing the number of lives lost to drunk driving through increased awareness, education and legislation. While they have been very successful by all measures, the problem remains with over 10,000 alcohol related highway deaths annually. As the organization looks to the future, they are seeking the next Chief Executive Officer who will provide strategic leadership enabling MADD to continue to reduce these deaths and their impact on victim families.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will be the visionary leader of the organization, committed to advancing the mission of MADD, its members and issues that affect them. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will have comprehensive responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring implementation of strategies through leadership of the senior management team. The CEO will direct all aspects of MADD’s activities to ensure the adequacy and soundness of the overall mission objectives, policies and plans while providing ongoing communications with the Board, volunteers and other stakeholders as appropriate. In doing so, the CEO will foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization ensuring all staff, volunteers and partners reflect the goals and objectives of MADD in a manner that aligns with its overall vision and mission.
The CEO will have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit environment, although others will be given full consideration. S/He will have demonstrated success in managing and providing strategic leadership to a large, multifaceted, geographically dispersed organization characterized by significant volunteer involvement. The CEO will be an excellent communicator, possess exceptional strategic leadership skills, and have the ability to inspire and motivate diverse constituencies.
